Matthew P. Oppen is a trial attorney with expertise in New York workers’ compensation. He is adept at all aspects of representing claimants within the workers’ comp system, including attending client hearings before administrative law judges, examining and cross-examining medical witnesses, drafting appeals and rebuttals using workers’ compensation case law, and negotiating settlements.
Matthew previously represented employers and insurance carriers within the workers’ compensation system, which gives him valuable insights into defense strategies. He also has experience representing clients in the areas of general liability and premises liability. He’s drafted, submitted, and argued motions in New York Supreme, Bronx Supreme, Queens Supreme, and Nassau Supreme County Courts.
Matthew earned his Juris Doctor degree from the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. Before that, he earned a dual Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
