Cherise Hewitt-Ogilvie has practiced law for over 20 years. She has extensive experience in civil litigation involving construction accidents, slip and falls, motor vehicle accidents, work-related accidents, and real estate.
As a legal counsel for the judiciary in the New York State Supreme Court, New York City Civil Court, and New York City Housing Court, she advised judges, researched the law, drafted decisions, negotiated settlement agreements, and prepared jury instructions on the law.
Cherise understands people’s hardships and challenges when they sustain life-altering work-related injuries.

Background

Throughout her legal career, she has been committed to ensuring that litigants receive fair and just treatment under the law. Cherise fights for her clients’ right to receive proper health care and compensation after they sustained a work-related injury. Before practicing law, Cherise worked as a High School Teacher for the NYC Department of Education.

As a member of the United Federation of Teachers, she understood the importance of advocating for educators who want to help students excel. As an attorney now, when a client’s life is disrupted due to a work-related injury, Cherise passionately works to protect their interests.

Her parents immigrated to the U.S.A. from St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Cherise grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and lives in Long Island with her husband and children. She enjoys dancing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She is a member of the Association of Black Women Attorneys, New York Trial Lawyers Association, Sister to Sister International. Inc., and Urban League of Long Island.
